GOLF

Between the golf courses of Hossegor, Seignosse and Moliets, Les Echasses offers direct access to three very different courses. One is more technical, another more physically demanding, while the third has a rare layout partly set on dunes overlooking the Ocean. Their close proximity makes it possible to play them over three consecutive half-days.

Other legendary Basque Country golf courses such as Chiberta, Ilbaritz and Chantaco are also all located within a 45-minute drive from Les Echasses.
Since 2019, the Hill Golf Center in Hossegor, inaugurated by brothers Scott and Michael Hill, has allowed golfers to train using simulators and also offers indoor-outdoor golf clinics.

Since 2024, the Étang Blanc driving range, located less than 10 minutes from the hotel, has further expanded this exceptional golfing offer.

At Les Echasses, lockers are available for storing golf bags and shoes.

TREKKING

Around Les Echasses, less than an hour by car, you will find some exceptional trekking paths of southern Aquitaine. Short, to enjoy as a family or more challenging for experienced trekkers; these will enable you to discover the green hills of the Pyrenees, the cliffs over ocean in the Basque Country, the endless sandy beaches and the valleys of Chalosse, Bearn or Gers. HORSE RIDING

Southern Landes is one of the richest regions in France in terms of equestrian activities. A wide variety of experiences can therefore be offered, suitable for all levels, within preserved natural surroundings. Several high-quality riding centres located between forest and ocean provide immersive experiences, with riding trails accessible directly from the stables and in some cases only a few hundred metres from the sea.

Located close to Les Echasses, these partners offer a wonderful opportunity to discover the region differently, at the pace of the horse.

BASQUE CULTURE

Incredibly strong, authentic and preserved the Basque culture remains fully alive, far from the folkloric image it once had. Spending time on both sides of the border, observing the relationship between the ocean (where fishing is dangerous) and the mountain (where agriculture is rough) is fascinating. You need to meet these people loyal to their climate both raw and warm. The Basque people have an millennial history, a totally unique language, their own sports. Les Echasses is the perfect spot to start a journey to the Basque Country.

SPAIN

The Spanish border is 35 minutes away from Les Echasses, by car. San Sebastián welcomes one of the world’s most renown jazz festivals every year and hosts ten Michelin-star restaurants. Bilbao has become a cultural hub, and in particular hosts the Guggenheim Museum. The Bardenas have the widest desert area in Europe next to La Rioja which is the third largest wine region on the continent. Both areas are within a two-hour drive from Les Echasses.

SURF

This coastline is both a mandatory stop for the world’s best surfers and the home of iconic surf figures. It is a land of legendary waves such as Mundaka, Guéthary, La Chambre d’Amour, La Piste, La Gravière and Les Estagnots, as well as nearly untouched spots accessible only on foot, where surfing can still be experienced as it was in California or Australia fifty years ago.

Surfing is deeply embedded in the culture of the region. All the major European headquarters of leading surf brands are based here, making it one of Europe’s centres of excellence for board sports.

CYCLING IN THE LANDES

Over recent years, cycling paths have expanded considerably throughout the Landes region. From Les Echasses, you can reach the Ocean and the beaches of Seignosse, Hossegor and Capbreton via dedicated cycling routes. Why not continue along the Vélodyssée cycling route to follow the coastline all the way to Spain, or join the Scandibérique route to discover the inland countryside and explore the banks of the Adour River ?
